This year Relay for Life Northeastern CT will once again be held at the Woodstock Fairgrounds in Woodstock , CT on Saturday May 15 and Sunday May 16. This is a free event for the whole family. This is a 24 hour event with someone from our team walking laps all 24 hours. The Relay opens with a very touching ceremony and survivors walk the first lap (not a dry eye to be found) at 11 a.m. on Saturday and concludes with a closing ceremony on Sunday at 10:30 or so. You do not need to sign up on the team to join us to walk one lap, participate in children’s activities, wellness events, our UNFI Product Sale or take in the  opening or luminary ceremony. This event is free and open to the public; we would love to see more support from our peers. There will also be a Team Lap on Saturday afternoon and we would very much like to have a crowd on hand to participate in this.

The UNFI (bigger and better than ever) Product Sale will be held on Friday, May 14 from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, May 16 from 8- 11 a.m. In order for this year’s sale to be successful we are looking for 8 volunteers for every hour that we are open. (128 person hours). We are in need of all the support you can lend; remember every penny goes to the ACS! This is also an opportunity for you to come and purchase products at $1.00 and fill your cupboards with natural and specialty products!

Joshua is off the breathing tube and is awake and fidgety! poor nurses have to deal with a groggy 18 yr old trying to move around!

"Rider hurt as bike hits minivan

WEBSTER —  A Stefanik Avenue man was seriously injured when his bike slammed into a minivan Friday night at Elm and Myrtle streets, police said.

Webster Police Officer Steven Cacciapouti said Joshua Pereira, 18, of 20 Stefanik Ave., was heading along Elm Street at “a good clip” when he slammed his bike into the side of a minivan driven by a 40-year-old Webster woman. Police did not identify the driver; Officer Cacciapouti said she will not be cited in the accident.

The officer said the minivan had the right of way, and said Mr. Pereira went through a stop sign while attempting to cross Myrtle Street. The officer said Mr. Pereira’s bike appeared to have struck the minivan squarely in the sliding door.

Officer Cacciapouti said Mr. Pereira was not wearing a helmet, and said the bike did not have brakes.

Mr. Pereira suffered a head injury and was taken by Webster EMS ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center — University Campus in Worcester. His condition was not immediately available last night. Members of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team were called to the intersection to assist police with the investigation. "
